old friends

This year has been exciting because I have had so many opportunities to reconnect with people. First, there's Julia in Vienna, who I lost touch with a few years back, but we had been penpals and friends since she was 13 and I was 14. I don't think I ever imagined us hanging out and going to clubs together in Vienna! I also got to visit Steffen, the German who took over Westford Academy, even winning prom king, my senior year of highschool. I spent 5 days in Freiburg in October with him and it was sick.

Then there's Helene, a French girl who spent a month in Westford with friends of mine. I was the only French-speaker they knew, so I spent a lot of time with them and Helene before heading off for my summer plans. Then, about 9 months later when I went with the highschool French department on the French exchange, Helene met us for our ascent of the Eiffel Tour and dinner that evening. She was in Paris taking exams to study architecture at the time. Since then, (about three years ago) we lost touch. While I was in France last week, she popped into my mind. She was from Grenoble, where Florent and I were planning to spend the night to catch the bus from there to les Deux Alpes, but I wasn't sure if she would be there or perhaps studying in Paris. The plan was to spend Friday night in PAris, since Saturday my train was departing from the North Train Station. Turns out, she's been living in Paris for more than a year now, and she invited us to her little flat for dinner with some friends of hers. Not only was it awesome to see her again, but we had a rowdy time with her friends :)

Now, next time I'm in France, I need to reconnect with Anais, my exchange partner from senior year of highschool. Then I will have successfully met up with all of the Europeans I know and lost touch with the last couple of years. So awesome.
