Brrrr

I just checked the weather for the weekend in Dublin and it's supposed to be sunny and high 40s!! That's much better than the current state of Delft, Holland:
I only ventured outside today so far to go to the post office and buy some stamps. Of course, the post office is about 2 minutes away from Ravi's place, but I walked straight by it and continued to wander around the town for a solid 45 minutes in the snow before giving up, heading in the direction of home, which led directly to the post office. It was cold, and I was very wet afterward. This is not helping me get over the cold that's been plaguing me for the entirety of my travels.

At least my one day in Amsterdam was beautiful! Still cold though, since the sky was clear.
I wore little flats (BIG mistake) and ended up buying random blue sailor boots at a flea market to prevent my toes from snapping off. They really saved the day---I had only been walking around for 20 minutes when my feet began to beg for warmth, and I wasn't planning to leave A'dam until late after the bright eyes concert. Walking around in these boots made me feel like I lived on one of the houseboats parked in the river :). Unfortunately, they won't fit in my luggage (and they're kind of grimy) so they'll be staying behind when I leave tomorrow night on my epic trek to Dublin.
Because I procrastinated buying my tickets for so long (as in, started looking monday and bought them...yesterday) I am not taking a plane to Dublin (too expensive), but instead, taking a bus to London and a bus from London to Dublin. The first half will take place Thursday night, and according to Ravi's housemates who take this bus a lot, customs happens at like 3 AM, and then you get off the bus and on a ferry, and then back on a bus in England. Same thing happens with Dublin Friday night, you get a ferry at the coast, and then on a bus again in Ireland. Friday I have 12 hours to hang out in London. I'm planning to leave my luggage at the Victoria Coach Station, and head right down town to see the sights, since the last and only time I was in England I was 11 or 12.

And thus the adventure continues. It'll be home sweet home next Tuesday, can't believe it!

  2. not really. and, well, everything is in dutch. i can understand street signs and individual nouns, but medical descriptions were a bit much. I'm actually feeling a ton better today though. I think catching up on sleep has been helping.
