so much fun

There's a flea market that takes place at Naschmarkt every Saturday, but the Neubaugasse flea market happens only once a year. Neubaugasse intersects Mariahilferstraße, which is the famous shopping street crazily packed with all of the big name stores like H&M and Fossil. Naubaugasse is a little quieter,"off the beaten path" according to my "young and clever in vienna" guidebook. I explored it the first week I was here, and it has funkier shops with handmade and unique products, all of which I wanted to buy.
I walked the whole length of the market a few times inspecting the various wares laid out on tables and blankets on the ground. Purposefully deciding not to take out any more cash than what was already in my wallet, I exercised the greatest self-control, because I dropped quite a roll of bills for my Oktoberfest trip and outfit. I spent the time taking pictures and just having fun looking at all of the  random stuff people were trying to sell.
Here are some of my favorites:

older people always have these, usually for carrying groceries

a not very good flute player. but pretty mountain-y looking!

wonderful old cameras...and binoculars that still worked

some dangerous fights could break out with these knives just chilling

SO MANY EARRINGS. multiply this size board by like 7. (hilary white might've died)

elephants with their trunks up--for mary

  1. Hi Lucy! Did you know that Elephants are symbolic in Germany (and I presume Austria as well)-- elephants never forget! My German host family gave me a lovely elephant pin in gold as a going away present- I love the pin! The only problem is the symbolism in the U.S. ;)
Hope you're well! Love the blog!
