paying my respects

I woke up late Sunday, having slept through my alarm clock and successfully missed both international church services I would have been interested in attending. It was an absolutely miserable day outside, windy, very gray, and threatening at any second to pour.
So, I decided it was the perfect day to visit the Central Cemetary of Vienna and see all of the graves of the composers whose music I love and will be studying this year. I dressed in mourning black (which was ruined because I don't have my black coat with me yet) and my roommate decided to come too.

Arnold Schoenberg's grave is marked by this cube.

I haven't performed any Wolf songs yet, but I will learn some this year.

BRAHMS. (I'm going to hear the 4th Symphony at the Musikverein on Monday!)

This was my first visit to a cemetery of famous people's graves. It probably won't be my last this year.
