I meant to post about this a long time ago, but it's never too late in the blog world. Namely, getting our visas was a ridiculous ordeal, something that I feel even Hercules or any other Greek hero would have had major problems completing successfully. The picture below is from the day Melissa and I, along with Sarah, waited at the scary place called "Magistrat 35" for four hours, just to hand in some additional documents. We're standing in front of a huge poster basically saying "don't try to bribe the staff to get your visa". Sad part is, the two guys trying to bribe the fair-skinned brown-haired Austrian woman are portayed as most likely Turkish or Iranian in origin. Just a little racist? Thanks Magistrat 35, for expressing how you really feel.
Thankfully, we both eventually got our visas before December 1st, when technically we would have been kicked out of the country. I've decided that it was the biggest hassle of my life to date. But I won't go into details because then that would probably make you reconsider spending an extended period of time in this beautiful, culturally rich country.
