If you aren't familiar with the term "tupie-love", allow me to explain. This is a strange form of love that can be found only on the rolling campus of Wellesley College, far off in a distant land, some call the mysterious name "Massachusetts". No one knows what this name means or where it comes from, or why the state vegetable is not broccoli, but this is the source of this mighty and wondrous energy. "Tupie-love" is not measurable, stoppable, or re-creatable; it is a pure substance existing only in the hearts, voices, and souls of the Tupelos, the women who wear black and red and do funny dances in front of friends and strangers alike. "Tupie-love" keeps us together, despite vast oceans, mountains, and foreign men trying to invade the "tupelos-only" section of my heart; "tupie-love" will be the only thing I forsee (aside from coffee) getting me through senior year of college, and "tupie-love" will never be exterminated from my heart. When I return West, to the land of mountain dew and grandma food, I will be returning triumphant in this love as co-musical director. Thus, I proudly present clips from the ladies amazing final concert, to share with you all, great big world. The rest of the concert can be found here.
The first, She and Him's "Why do you let me stay here?", with soloist Olivia Kingsley:
And the second, the embodiment of "tupie-love", our alumnae song "Love's Recovery" by the Indigo Girls:
and this one is just my favorite....
may the red and black course strongly through our veins forever.
